Tucker's Baptism - February 24, 2008

Tucker was baptized on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Springfield United Methodist Church by Brother Ben Martin. It was such special day and everything turned out wonderful. We are so lucky that God gave us this precious gift and this day was a time for us to pledge to raise our son as God would want in a christian home as christian parents.
Tucker is getting ready for his big moment.Tucker was eyeing the bowl of water in the baptismal font . . . I think he was wanting to splash and play.
There was no crying or fussing during the entire baptism, he was just as happy as he could be. He watched Brother Ben talk and was fascinated with everything he was saying. It is like he understood every word. One time he got so excited that I thought he was going to start jabbering right along with the preacher. He was getting a little antsy in this picture . . . I think he didn't like laying back, he wanted to sit up so he could see everybody and what was going on. He's such a nosey little fella!!
This picture is so sweet, it is like he is saying, "okay, okay - everything is over and I've got my daddy, life is good"
This next picture was taken by Holden during the service. He's quite the photographer for seven years old!! Out of all the "quiet church toys" I had, Tucker decided that the necklace I was wearing was the most attractive thing to occupy his time. He is so strong, he was practically ripping it off my neck and pulling it into his mouth!! Our family - Abby, Nicky and Tucker Smith.

The baptismal banner is a tradition that I brought from the church that I grew up at, Bethel Lutheran. It was tradition that a baptismal banner was handmade for every baby that was baptized. For years, my Grandma Beulah was the one who handmade the banners for all the babies and I wanted Tucker to have one of his own. So on Saturday afternoon (of course I waited until the last minute) my sister, Becky and I made Tucker a baptismal banner. It was really neat carrying on a tradition that my Grandma Beulah was a part of for so many years.

Tucker is very lucky to have such a large and loving family. We were so happy that they were a part of this special day.
